Best and Worst Dressed of the 2018 Emmy’s

The 70th Annual Emmy’s premiered on Monday, September 17, 2018 in Los Angeles, California with hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che. Some highlights of the night may have been when Glenn Weiss proposed to girlfriend Jan Sveden or when the show hit some awkward moments- those can always make you laugh. But one of its most important if not the most important elements of the show was the fashion, of course. Today we are going to go through the top 5 worst outfits (from weird prints to bizarre shapes) to the top 5 best red carpet looks that had us all amazed. Let’s start on the top 5 worst.

Top 5 Worst Dressed

5. Tiffany Haddish
First is comedian, actress, and author Tiffany Haddish who wore a brightly colored, custom dress by Prabal Gurung. Her dress represented the Eritrean Flag to honor her father and the country he was from. While we loved how she represented Eritrean, we were not a big fan of her dress; it reminded us of a big rainbow tarp we would play with in elementary school. However, her energy and smile outshines any dress she could ever wear.

4. Millie Bobby Brown
The 14 year old Netflix star wore a cupcake shaped, millennial pink dress by Calvin Klein. She matched the dress with simple jewelry and pink kitten heels to match. Her off the shoulder, pastel look with a white floral pattern looked more like a desert then an ensemble to us. However, just because her dress isn’t on our best dressed list doesn’t mean her acting isn’t. At only 14 years old, this English actress was an Emmy nominee for best supporting actress, and we hope to see her keep thriving.

3. Aidy Bryant
She has been apart of SNL’s cast since season 38 and has since become one of SNL’s leading ladies with her skits that have all viewers laughing. The American actress and comedian wore a long sleeved blush colored dress by Tanya Taylor. “We wanted to give her something very soft and feminine, with bursts of neon playfulness like her personality,” Tanya Taylor told PEOPLE magazine. The dress sparkled with 3,500 sequins on it! She kept her shoes simple with a nude heel and hair with loose waves. But sadly, the sparkles were too much for us and the dress reminded us of a school project more than a red carpet look with all of its sequins and colors.

2. Leslie Jones
Another well-known female SNL cast member is Leslie Jones, who daringly went  with a iridescent cotton candy colored suit. She was nominated for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series and we are not surprised because of how talented her performances on SNL are. The suit was designed by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. While we love a good pantsuit look, the colors of this one missed the mark and the opalescent shine on the dress did not complement the colors well for us.

1. Tracee Ellis Ross
If you remember anything from this night, it’s most likely going to be Tracee Ellis Ross’s dress- it’s that memorable. The best word to describe the gown would be volume, and lots of it. The three time Emmy winner including 2018’s lead actress in a comedy series for her role as Rainbow Johnson on ABC’s hit show Black-ish. The hot pink Valentino was definitely different and very interesting from any other look of the night. Tracee is known for her outgoing fashion style, and this one was a little too outgoing with its shape and all of its texture. We all love her fashion style even though this one may have been a little off- but we know that at the next red carpet she will amaze us.

5. Lakeith Stanfield
Lakeith Steinfield who plays Darius on the show Atlanta went with a sleek white jacket and black bow tie along with black pants. He came with his partner, Xosha Roquemore, who is an actress as well. She came in a matching black dress that complemented Lakeith’s suit. Our favorite part of the look was his antique blue flower boutonniere that really did make the look unique. The suit was designed by Ermenegildo Zegna and it was one of our favorites.

4. Dakota Fanning
She stars in the American drama series, The Alienist, and she really did look like a star tonight in her beautiful green Dior dress. The soft silk gown had dainty spaghetti straps and wrapped at the waist. It’s the perfect dress for a twirl because of how beautiful the fabric is. As soon as she saw the dress on the runway she knew that she was gonna wear it, and we are so glad that she did. She kept the hair and makeup minimal, but made the jewelry the center of attention. Her emerald earrings and rings stole the show as matched her dress beautifully.

3. Joe Keery
He is a part of the science fiction phenomenon and plays Steve Harrington on the show Stranger Things. His Royal blue suit was very classy and our favorite suit of the night. The 26 year old wore a suit by Italian designer Dolce and Gabbana. He came with his date Maika Monroe who came in a Stella McCartney white jumpsuit, and together the couple was definitely one of the night’s best dressed.

2. Natalie Dryer
Yet another Stranger Things star, Natalia Dyer, who shined in her gold beaded gown. The detail in her embroidery was exquisite! Her hair had loose waves that made the whole look have an old Hollywood look to it. The 21 year old arrived with date Charlie Heaton who plays Jonathan, a costar on the show Stranger things. The beautiful gown was designed by no other than Dolce and Gabbana.

1. Angela Sarafyan
Last, but most certainly not least is Angela Sarafyan in her stunning princess gown that made her look just like royalty. The classy black and white print reminded us of the galaxy but also had a strapless cut that gave us Hollywood glamour. She paired the dramatic dress with a simple, slicked low ponytail and a nude lip. Her earrings a;sp matched the white sparkle on the dress. She plays Clementine Pennyfeather on the HBO series Westworld. The show stopping look was created by Christian Siriano. We were so happy with this look and couldn’t stop saying how beautiful it was.
